The '3-in-1' part of the product's name refers to the fact there are three different ways to assemble it. With a small and large basket, its modular nature means that you can sterilise just a few items such as soothers or teats using only the small basket; use the larger basket on its own to sterilise medium sized items such as breast pumps, plates or cutlery; or combine the two to sterilise up to 6 x 330ml bottles.It is a natural steam steriliser, so there's no need to purchase additional consumables such as chemicals. It operates in cycles of twenty minutes - 10 minutes to heat up and sterilise the contents of the baskets, and 10 minutes cool down. It's not possible to restart the system until it has completed it's ten minute cool down. It turns itself off automatically at the end of the heating cycle. This is a state-of-the-art, electronic steam steriliser. This is the roll- royce of germ killers, offering the facility to sterilise in just six minutes; a godsend.The adjustable sizing is an excellent innovation. Even in its biggest size, due the the slim, space-saving shape, it is neatly stored when not in use. It's compact, yet surprising spacious. Before sterilising, wash the items in warm, soapy water (or in the dishwasher) [1] To start, add 100ml of water (bottled or tap - I use tap water) in the base. Depending on the age of your baby, you'll have different types of items to sterilise: - In the beginning, when the baby is being breast fed exclusively, you may just want to only sterilise some soothers. However, you manage to squeeze them all in but because i have the anti-colic bottles, i have to seperate all parts and use another steriliser unit so i have two. ANyway it was ok at first, but the the base that holds water, kept burning out and i had to contstantly clean it with kettle cleaner as i live in a hard water area, but having to clean it every few days was a bit timeconsuming as you the bottles began to smell like milk. I purchased this item in Nov 2011, and in Jan 2012, the button just stopped working. So amazon were kind enough to send me another after i had received a ref no. from philips. I was told that it couldn't happen again, however, it has. not impressed. lets hope the Tommee Tippee one is better. I dont think it has anything to do with the bottles and i am so careful about positioning the base, keeping it clean, as it is for my little... Read more |
